The television show ‘ Dexter’s Laboratory‘ is a great show encouraging children to pursue an interest in math or science. I like this show, because it is highly entertaining and always features new plot schemes. I always watch this show with my two nephews through our satellite tv providers.

I highly recommend ‘Dexter’s Laboratory’ for mature kids ages 8 through 12. I think this show requires a certain maturity on the part of children, which makes me hesitant to fully recommend it to children of all ages. The show can be a bit ‘scary’ for kids, in positioning Dexter as a serious scientist. However, my nephews get a kick out of the double lives lead by the main character, Dexter.

As mentioned, the show centers around the life of Dexter. Dexter is an average kid in his everyday life, but turns into a serious scientist at night. I like that this show makes it ‘okay’ for kids to have a serious interest in academic subjects like science. All too often, I think television shows do not appeal to kids that are on the more serious side of things. This show actually encourages serious kids to excel in academic studies like science. After watching this show, my two nephews who are obsessed with science felt much more encouraged to become actual scientists someday. I highly recommend this program for kids wanting to pursue science and with a high maturity level.
